F1 Racing: a sport that praises the science behind high-octane racing innovations, and skills of racers with split second reflexes, rarely gives the opportunity to their athletes to express their personality on the track.
Finnish racer Valtteri Bottas from Alfa Romeo’s team recently unveiled his new helmet with a cartooned render of his face, with custom visor, moustache, and mullet for the 2023 racing season. These helmets are equipped with tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment, aside from the cost of this flashy paint job.
Bottas isn’t the only one to sport a personalized helmet, as Lewis Hamilton gave real estate to his to support and represent the LGBTQIA+ and Black History Month in a sport with lesser representation.
